Aus Post shoves it up the residents, The residents come out fighting

I have been living in the new Curlewis Estate and Australia Post have refused to deliver mail to this estate . Their reasoning behind this is "the cant afford it". I feel the need to voice my disgust at the attitude of Australia Post. I am a disabled pensioner with no way of getting to the Drysdale Post Office to collect my mail. I feel that Australia Post are discriminating against me and other people in my position. We have met all of your pathetic criteria to have our mail delivered and the residents are demanding that Australia Post starts delivering our mail to our homes immediately.

So far we have taken the following action;

• A petition has been signed by hundreds of local residents to voice their anger.
• Some residents have already been in the local newspapers
• We have contacted the Communications Ombudsman
• We have contacted the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Greater Geelong
• We have contacted Richard Marles M.P. office for assistance, and he can’t get a response from your organisation
• I have made several complaints to Australia Post to no avail
• I was contacted by Australia Post and was informed they were sending my complaint to the Australia Post investigation department to find out why I was not getting any mail delivery. (I have not heard a thing about this since)

Future action;
• The residents are holding a rally in the local reserve on Sunday 30th June to voice their anger and local media have been invited to attend
• I will be personally contacting 3AW and A Current Affair to have this fight brought out into the public forum

To save Australia Post from any further embarrassment the smart thing to do would be to “DELIVER OUR MAIL” and cease this discriminatory road that Australia Post has opted to take. This is not much to ask.

Rick Troeth Rory, Thank you for responding to my query. The manager at the Ocean Grove delivery centre is well aware of the situation and it has been made quite clear that this area has not been budgeted for so I'm not sure that doing this will get my mail delivered but anything will help.

 I spoke with a so called manager at the Australia Post Call Centre and he quite bluntly stated that no delivery will be made to this area. Life is difficult enough with dissabilities without Australia Post adding to it. Can someone at Australia Post please help. I have also forwarded an email to Brian Crosbie at Australia Post in Melbourne and have been informed that we don't meet Australia Posts criteria for mail delivery. After asking him again how can I get my mail, well, I'm still waiting for a reply to this question. Surely someone in Australia Post can do something, after all your slogan is "WE DELIVER". That is of course you live in a new estate and disabled.

(Good on them)
