Australia Post - THE RIP OFF RATES
A little bit dated - but it pushes the point in a simple way, with graphs, how fucking steep, or some my say - bare faced theft, the Australia Post Managements pricing structure actually is.
Sending a package overseas from Australia can be double, treble, 4 times, 5 times what it costs to send the same thing into Australia from overseas

Auspost = Great Australia ripoff run by greedy scoundrels , serviced by inept but attitude filled gooses
another example of greedy Australian business (banks , grocery giants , ...) who truns greedy as fuck to make balance sheet look better every quarter
Passive Govt and numb Public creates a heaven for heartless capitalism....

continued: After doing the research I have decided to run down the Company and move it to New Zealand. Less tax, can buy a warehouse instead of paying $60k a year in rent.. also, workers turn up for work and they work. Postage wise, we will be able to post around NZ, very cheap and also post to Australian customers at the same rates as AU sellers. The big bonus not GST on exports to Australia, which will immediately save us more than $100k a year. For me its a no brainer, I'm out. Good Luck!!!!
Hi, I also run online stores 3 ebay stores and a website in Australia. I focus on Motorcycle parts and accessories. Our postage costs currently exceed $10k per month, all going through Auspost. We have a 2000 parcel contract which gives us 40% discounts on national parcels. Apart from the poor delivery service they offer, tracking that does not work and worsening delivery times, we have been content with our fees.

Continued: But, as a yesterday 24/10 I was informed by a fellow online seller that Auspost is hiking their prices once again....this time they are not messing around, local regular parcel post is going to volumetric scaling, so for those of us that were on weight contracts this is very bad news. This among hefty ebay fees, GST and overheads, not to mention the growing number of international sellers that can flood and list on ebay.au, is the last nail in the coffin
.
It can be difficult to compete with overseas sellers because of postage. :(

Thousands and thousand of jobs could be created if our post prices were compatible with the rest of the World. Instead, existing sellers are going out of business because of the post costs. As it is now, no one sells because everyone buys from over seas since the postage is so much cheaper. In these hard unemployed times it is amazing that our gov. doesn't do something about the post pricing. Anyway you've done a beautiful job of explaining it all.
If you don't mind me asking, how is it for Amazon shipping? Do you guys have that deal down in Australia for their prime service? I think its like $60/$70 dollars (US) a year and you get free Two Day shipping on almost anything (I have it, never been refused the free 2 day shipping). I heard Australia was expensive, but this is a bit excessive.

Wow, this is insane, such huge costs for something so basic. In the US, we (or rather the businesses) have so many deals with the delivery methods (i.e. FedEx and USPS) that it seems like I never actually pay for postage. In all honesty, I think the last time I paid for shipping was for my DESKTOP Computer, which weighed about 40 LBs(18kg) or so; even that was only about $20.It was domestic, but still, they shipped it across the country, which is still a LONG way. Insanely expensive in Australia
