High Rise Hi-Jinks - 50,000 people in the CBD of Melb don't get deliveries.

Wow nothing like being discriminated against! Cant believe that Australia post believe its ok not to deliver to apartment buildings in the city of Melbourne. I am sure if I lived in the bush it wouldn't be a problem, come hail or snow the post always gets through? 28,000 apartments in the city of Melbourne and Australia post thinks its ok not to deliver parcels to buildings despite having intercoms - seriously? Its time there was more competition!

  • Australia Post Hi Neil

    Sorry to hear about this. It sounds very frustrating indeed. It is certainly not our intention to discriminate against you here.

    Our parcel contractors do deliver articles to units, flats, and high rise apartments except in the following situations:

    - In instances where access is difficult such as a building requiring security access, then articles will not be delivered. A card is usually left in the customer's letter box in such instances, and the customer is required to collect the article from their local Post Office.

    - If there are security concerns for vehicles left unattended. The Parcel Contractor will use his/her judgement as to whether it is safe to leave their vehicle unattended to make the delivery. If it is deemed unsafe to leave the vehicle unattended then a card will be left in the customer's letter box, and the customer is required to collect the article from their local Post Office.

    The same rules apply to posties who from time to time deliver small parcels.

    I’d be happy to log a complaint with your local delivery centre to find out the exact reason that your parcels are not being delivered to you. Please let me know if you’d like me to do this and I will send you a private message to get some more details from you.

    Regards

    Paul
  • Neil Devonport Paul, we have already logged a complaint. Re your reasons why parcels wont be delivered - is Auspost really stuck in the 50's? All high rise buildings have security access and amazingly enough they have intercoms to buzz people. Surely your contractors are trained to be able to use an intercom? Otherwise my arguement is valid, you discriminate against people living in highrise buildings... over 50,000 people in the city of Melbourne alone.
  • Brendan Geeves Winging Kiwi! Heard of couriers??
  • Neil Devonport Brendan Geeves - This was the auspost courier service...
  • Stephen Paul Neil, did you just like your own post?
  • Ange Jamieson This has happened to me several times in the last few months sending stuff from work to clients they have lost the article three times now even via registered post they left it outside the door to be stolen getting no signature or leaving a calling card and after all the red tape and having to go through the privacy act and a million forms we only get the cost price back with proof of a receipt we have to dig up from 2 years ago! Bloody ridiculous don't even get the postage back. Rant completed

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi Australia Post, I want to make a complaint about the courier people who deliver packages to our city apartment on Little Bourke St.
    They never rang the bell nor left any reminder cards in our mail box so we can come and collect our mails. If I did not check my online tracking, I wouldn't have known my parcels were waiting for me at the post outlet.
    There were already 5 incidents like that within a month. I am extremely unhappy with the service. I think those guys are called City Parcels people, maybe they're your contractors?
    I'm posting my complaint here, hopefully you won't delete my comment but help me solve the problem. Otherwise, can you show me another way that I can lodge my complaint and get my problem solved? Many thanks.
