Freindly Advice from an Ebay seller - and ONE interesting reply

This is quite comical really....

The process and procedure.

I think it's more bullshit being spun by the Australia Post social media customer care team - who are nothing but professional bullshit artists...

And they got ONE - yes ONE response.

What to do if Australia Post loses my item?

It is a question we all dread. A lost item can greatly put a downer on our EBay and online trading experience. BUT do not fret; there is action that can be taken.
Firstly, whether you’re a buyer or a seller, it is important to never have the "I can't do anything about it" attitude. As a buyer, when your item isn't received within a reasonable time frame, it's important to contact the seller querying about your item. As a seller, when a buyer contacts you it then falls on your shoulders to take next course of action. Just stating, "sorry but this is not my fault" could result in negative feedback that could easily have been avoided.

The next step to take if you are the seller in the situation of a grossly late parcel or letter is to make a trip to your local Australia Post outlet; fill out a "missing items form" and then Australia Post will take it from there. Contact your buyer and state that you have filed the missing items form and that it will be a short wait for a reply. At this time, depending on the sold item, you could offer a replacement or a refund, but it is also reasonable to state the best thing to do would be to wait for Australia's Post reply because the item could be located.

NEXT STEP: THE REPLY. Now the reply, which will be sent to the seller, will state either 1) the item has been found or 2) the item could not be located. In situation1 there are no more worries, but if situation 2 is the case, then there is a bit more work to do.

NOW the good thing is that Australia Post has a free $100 insurance cover for any lost item. IF YOUR ITEM was valued at over that amount (Value is of cause the selling price) hopefully as a responsible seller you offered insurance on the item to the buyer- which is a cheap and a safe way to trade- Only S1.10 on for every additional $100 within Australia. Visit the Australia Post Website for more information. If the item was valued under $100 or over $100 and insured, it will be a simple process of filling out the claims form, including the EBay Payment instructions which details final value and postage, then mailing these items back to Australia Post with the provided reply paid envelope.

At this point, the seller MUST communicate with the buyer and state the item has been lost and possibly offer a refund or a replacement item. Australia Post will send the seller a money order that will cover the loss of the item, which would cover the seller's lost income from a refund. Alternatively the seller could just send the buyer the received money order.

It must always be remembered that the buyer will feel quite down about a lost item because they have hardly any control over the events. So it is always a good idea to reassure an EBay buyer in a lost item situation that you as a seller will do your best to rectify the situation. This way the EBay experience won't be a negative one and positive feedback will still be received- even if AN ITEM WAS LOST!

The ONE single reply.
