Throwback Thursday to the old model postie bicycles. And the hecklers have long memories.

Ah. The good ol' day's. When every letter and parcel eventually arrived at its destination. Now we cross our fingers in hope that we don't have to deal with incompetence yet again, when items go missing. Backward progress?

The 'Postie's' whistle was usually a welcome sound in our street. My Mother would give him a cold drink of water on the hot days as his 'round' was so far from the Post Office at Clayton. That was in the 1950's. Sweet times and fantastic memories.

Shame! Gone from two deliveries a day and one on Saturday morning in the fifties/sixties all by pedal power...... to one a day every 5 days if ya lucky! Harrump!
Julie Seager
wouldn't that be nice - the guy in the truck can't find his way up my street, I have to go to the petrol station for my mail. That's progress for you.
Mike Dodd
It's been 2 days and no parcel, so is it a 3 day turn around for a parcel from someone who is literally a 40 minute drive away??
Patricia Murray
And usually you have to go to the PO to pick it up as the contractor is toooo lazy to get the parcel out of the van and go to the door
Vickie Clarke
oh yes........I remember this......the days when mail actually got delivered

Why does Australia Post have someone posting on Facebook when you don't have any staff to do your core business. And to be called racist for telling the girl in accounts that I could not understand her is disgusting. I don't care where your staff are born but they need to speak English proficiently and not be completely stupid.
Bill Vallence
That's obviously how they still do interstate deliveries ... by bicycle.
Joh Hodge
And now it takes 7 days to get a letter from one side of Canberra to the other!
How do AusPost staff feel knowing that used-car salesmen are now more trusted than them?
Michael Alexander
I remember they were spot on, never complained and friendly
Trish Bolton
Delivery was much better then than now. Australia Post is rubbish now with the time it takes.
Tom Parker
More posts on facebook than actual parcels posted. I have switched to Couriers Please for interstate parcels - no ridiculous size restrictions, much cheaper, and NEXT DAY DELIVERY between Adelaide and Melbourne! No use for Post now...
Sandra Weeden
2 deliveries per day plus Saturday morning. Progress has arrived haha!!
Tami Collins
its got to be quicker and much more reliable then what they call Australia post today...
Allister Payne
Must be the method used to deliver (or not) express post parcels in Melbourne today

Bet The CEO wasn't on 4 million back then..
