The story is that "local mail" is no longer sorted at the local post office.

Nope. it's sent away, some times hundreds of K's away, or more, for sorting at a sorting facility and then it's sent back.

So instead of the "local mail" coming in one day, and being sent out the next, this idiotic process adds days to weeks, to the delivery times.....

Mmmm paying more, not for faster, better delivery services, like next day delivery - nope - it's coming back in 6 - 10 days, for delivery 5 streets away from the post office.. etc.

In short, the management of Australia Post are a bunch of gross incompetents, the mail is taking longer and longer than ever to be delivered, and the people of Australia are fucking sick of this seriously bullshit standard of mail service.

Yes the bored of directors, this self serving bunch of pricks, all gave him (and himself) a $2.8 million bonus - and the snouts in the trough executive, $20 million between them.

When people post letters in the "Local Mail" slot at their local Post Office, they rightfully expect it to be dealt with locally and delivered without delay. The current directive to staff to send all non priority mail including local letters to the metropolitan mail sorting centre is outrageous.  Moreover, it just flies in the face of Common Sense!

The waste of energy in transporting thousands of tonnes of mail over hundreds of kilometres needlessly is also a monstrous act of reckless corporate stupidity and shows a lack of moral responsibility.

The new slow regular service should not mean that mail addressed locally should take a week to arrive. Australia Post's response to a downturn in profits has been to reduce service and increase the cost to its customers, the opposite of how a forward thinking corporation should act.

Here in regional west Australia, I am one of many people who rely on Australia post to deliver P.B.S prescriptions that have to travel a round trip to eastern Australia for authorisation. That has now increased from a two week to a months turn around,

6 business days to receive letters sent from within the same postcode is absolutely ludicrous! The new price structure is astounding and I feel for the customer service representatives on the front line copping flack for decisions made without their input.

Its stupid, the mail should be dealt with locally. I know it happens because a letter I wanted from Melbourne to Port MacDonnell had to go via Mount Gambier, via Adelaide.

I agree that sending tonnes of local Mail on a round trip that's hundreds of kms long is ridiculous & a waste of resources. I've received mail from Europe in less time than it's taken to get mail from interstate.

Meanwhile, it's disgusting that the CEO is getting bonuses while the company's services are deteriorating & customer complaints are steadily increasing.

Awwww Australia Post.... Terrific.  People are so impressed with the service given by so many people in Australia Post.... The universal "Attempted Delivery" card being placed in the mail box, when the driver not only didn't bring the parcel, they never even came and knocked on the door.... Outrageous prices........ Parcels and letters going missing..... Registered mail never arriving, or getting signed for by the contractor and disappearing.... The tracking system that doesn't..... Post Offices + PO Boxes = Pffft.

We do not have a street delivery where we are. The local PO has told us that anything not addressed to our PO Box will no longer be put into our box but will be kept inside behind the counter as per Australia Post advice.  When I rang Australia Post to query this they said it is  NOT the case in an area where there is no street delivery (which is what we were told when we first got a PO Box) and it is the local PO who have made this decision, not Austpost. We took the PO Box in the first place so we could actually get our mail because we couldn't get to the shop when it was open! This new policy will affect a number of customers.
