More Dickhead decisions from a Dickhead Management....

Yessssss more of the management of Australia Post and their low IQ shit, which is to stop the local sorting of the local mail, in the local post office, and pile it all into huge trucks, drive them hundreds and thousands of K's, to mail sorting centres, and then drive it ALLLLLLL the way back - which only adds several days to a week or two, to what should be a next day delivery - and it goes a long way towards closing more post offices down, and only encourages people to do their own "same day" mail deliveries, for those few not using email, or wholly using email, for those who are, rather than wait another fucking week, for what should have been a next day delivery...

And "dear dick heads" - the management of Australia Post - worse (slower) service, = less Australia Post = less people going into the post offices = more shifting to email and private couriers.

And this is another case of these idiots and their crap in action, hoovering up all the mail sorting, in all the post offices, including all local mail - which should be staying in the local mail post office...

And sending it to the big city mail sorting centres.

Bannockburn Post Office owners say closure possible after losing sorting rights

Alex Sinnott, Geelong Advertiser

A BUREAUCRATIC pen stroke by Australia Post is likely to kill off Bannockburn’s post office, its owners say.

Wayne and Lynette Kerr have been informed that they will no longer be responsible for mail sorting on site, gutting 50 per cent of the shop’s revenue.

However, Australia Post has reassured Bannockburn and district residents that mail services will not be affected by the changes.

Mr Kerr said Australia Post officials claimed the Bannockburn site needed to be expanded in order to retain its mail sorting responsibilities.

He indicated his business could comply to the new requirements but the national mail corporation decided to withdraw its commission to Bannockburn regardless.

“The thing that disappoints me most is the highhanded approach that Australia Post has taken,” Mr Kerr said.

“They said we needed additional space and improve security. We were happy to comply. Then they just railroad us and say they’re taking our sorting equipment without any further discussion.”

Mr Kerr said the move to end local sorting placed pressure on the viability of the Bannockburn Post Office.

“It’s a 50 per cent cut in income without a 50 per cent cut in costs,” he said. “We now have to seriously look at our future.”

An Australia Post spokeswoman said despite the changes, mail sorting would continue to be conducted within the Geelong region.

“With the growth in parcel volumes in the local area, the space available at Bannockburn Post Office is no longer suitable to support our mail sorting operations,” the spokeswoman said.

“We’ve been working in consultation with the licensee for some months to identify alternative arrangements. Regrettably, at present the only option is to relocate the mail sorting services to another local facility.”

The spokeswoman said Australia Post were committed to supporting licensees and would maintain all mail sorting payments “as we continue discussions about future options.”

“Importantly, there are no changes to Post Office or mail delivery services for local customers,” she said.
