FREE ice-cold airconditioning remains one of the main drawcards for bricks-and-mortar shopping in Brisbane.
River City shoppers are less likely than people in Sydney and Melbourne to shop online, with a new study suggesting they enjoy escaping the heat by retreating to retail centres.
Australia Post data shows online shopping in Brisbane climbed only 15 per cent in the six months to June this year compared to the same period last year.
“Brisbane’s ever-growing and developing shopping centres provide an escape from our warmer, humid weather,” said retail expert Associate Professor Gary Mortimer, of the Queensland University of Technology.
